guinea pigs

We have guinea pigs, it started out slowly with one male solid white adorable piggie named Snowball. He was so cute and quickly warmed our hearts to the point that we wanted to get him a friend. So several months later we purchased an adorable brown piggie we named Brownie. Well....about 4 months later she bore us 3 cute little gray and white fluffs, that we lovingly cared for, for about 4 weeks then gave to Friends to care and love too.
Well, it seemed our breeding time was done and so we settled down to our normal life... when I found Snowball in Brownies cage. He had managed to push and poke his way under the wall into her cage. Well it's done... its been about 2 months and we have 4 little piggies. They are really cute, 2 are black and white and 2 are gray and white.
Know anyone who wants a guinea pig...we will nurse/love these for about 4 weeks, then they are up for adoption.

Back in February we earned the "Give a day, Get a day" pass for disney World.

We picked a really fun service project. We chose to make blankets at a local elementary school. We made 2 fleece blankets, and even though Isaac was not able to qualify for the program, because he was to young, he was still able to help us cut and tie the edges of the blankets. We left the school that day feeling good about the service we had just finished doing and REALLY good about the fun that was in store for us as a family at Disney.

Well, we didn't spend time waiting around to use our passes we quickly made our way up to Orlando, FL. We were able to sweetened our already awesome deal by trading up our passes to do the FL resident $99 for 4 parks pass. This meant we only had to spend about $35 for the pass.

It has been so fun to get up there to Disney. We have gotten to the Epcot and the Magic Kingdom parks, but we still have 2 more days/parks left and are anxious to plan those out.

Almost done with cookies

The booth was fun and Isaac was a blast. He is a great cookie cheerleader. We have not been as successful at the cookie boothes as we have been in the past. Oh well. Our last boothes of this year are coming up this weekend and I am so glad to see the end. My waist will be happy and so will my brain from counting all the cookies and proceeds. By the way, we ended up with a hamster after the Pet City booth. I am such a sucker.

Okay so it's about 7 am and I'm getting ready to sell cookies.

Riley will be waking soon and we will need to get out to our booth in front of Pet City to sell our hearts out. We need to unload quite a few of them, so my hopes are high! I will post pix later.

What will make this booth interesting will be the addition of my youngest son, who has no sitter for this event....I'm hopeful I will not spend my money at the cookie booth. A still be a sane person in 4 hours!

Isaac's preschool had a celebration where they learned about 100. They asked the children a few questions starting with, If I had a hundred....

Here are Isaac's answers.

-If I had 100 dollars, I would "give some away to someone who does not have very much dollars."

-If I had 100 pencils, I would "pencils in a pencil holder."

-If I had a 100 mosquito bites, I would "go home and tell mom "Can I have 100 band-aids"

-If I had 100 friends, I would "play with 'em and keep them safe"

-If I had 100 legs, I would "have some off and just have 2 legs on me"

-If I had 100 eyes, I would "take some out and put some in."

BTW, I think my son is amazing.

I've been very busy. Crazy busy, and it's not just me it's my whole family. I'm thinking about down sizing. I mean scaling back on our activities. I feel like a driver not a mommy. bet there are a lot of you who feel that way.

The making of the spooky very creepy dish

First, I dyed the regular spaghetti noodles with black food coloring.

It worked really well.
Just 2 tsp of the food coloring to the pot of water, dyed the noodles black.

Just right for the "spooky very creepy" dish.

Secondly, I made the eyeballs.
I used a regular pork meatball recipe, then pushed the olive slice into the center. After I baked them, I cut pieces of chedder cheese to insert into the center of the olive. Looks like a bunch of eyeballs ...sorta.

The last thing to do is put it all together with the red sauce.
I am using just a plain tomato sauce, no lumps of veg or whatever. I want it as smooth as it can be, so it looks like blood...the "Spooky, very creepy dish is just about ready!!
Well, not to scary, but definitely "spooky very creepy"!

It's getting closer and closer, I can feel it.

I've got candy hidden away, hope I remember where soon, but not to soon or I'll end up eating it first :), the costumes are all made and ready to wear, my youngest son has finally settled on Wolverine, not my 1st choice, but it makes him happy, so ok. Arrangments have been set with friends for the joint trick or treating , and the yard art is on full display, so now I'm feeling pretty good, maybe even excited, about Halloween being just 8 days away.

We have a girl scout party tomorrow night, and everyone has been asked to prepare a "spooky very creepy food" to share with the other scouters and their families. So on that note, I've been scanning the halloween recipes on the web and asking my friends about their ideas. My friend Cami came up with a few good ones today and that really spurred my creative juices, so here I am writing away about it. I've decided on our "spooky very creepy food"...
I'm going to do some kind of pasta,probably spaghetti, dyed black with food grade dye and top it off with red sauce and some turkey meatballs with an olive slice pushed into it, to make it look like eyeballs.
Now, I've seen some pictures online that are sorta what I'm talking about, so I'll attach them, but I will change it out after I make up the "spooky very creepy food".

So, mix these 2 pictures for a visual of what I'm planning to cook up. This is going to be fun and hopefully yummy and maybe a little "spooky very creepy"!

Ok. So I've really been lazy when it comes to my family blog, but please remember this was to be a family activity and truley the only folks who have taken time to do so are mom and the oldest daughter. She is so busy now that school is in, that it's only me and well, I stink at it. But here we go at a new post. :)
I found that the weather here in florida isn't changing, but the yard art is. This means fall and best of all, Halloween! I love Halloween. It's fun to be spooked and to dress up and eat sugary yum yums. I'm gonna get my hubby to climb up into the attic and get my yard stuff too. I want to do a graveyard in my front grass this year. Wow the kids will love that.
My mom was down visiting a couple of weeks ago and she is so crafty and fun. We started working on our costumes and really just plain old crafting it up. :) My family is going for the 50's look this year, well, most of us. The youngest boy may still be fluctuating on his dream of a costume, I've heard a Super Mario brother, Spiderman, and a alligater. Still not 100 % sure. But there is still time.

School starts for us!

For some of you out there, school started today.But lucky for us, school starts next week on Monday.McKenna and Riley have been in Idaho for the past 3 weeks visiting their dad and family and when they came back, they had a few hundred tons of shoes and clothes!!!!

We managed to paint their room and rearrange it but dont have enouph space for all of the clothes or shoes!!OI!They were able to get new backpacks, but no school supplies other then 3 spirals with designs on them.

Isaac will be going to school this year, preschool.He is really excited and persists on having a cool backpack with spiderman on it.This will be the first year all the kids will be at school!

Where's a dog whisperer when we need one?!

Help!! We need a dog whisperer!! I am about to give our new puppy away. She has chewed up almost a library of books and two pairs of my shoes!! Not to mention lots of the kids toys. She is a chewing machine.
The little bugger is also a peeing machine. I mean we take her out to do her bussiness then come in and two minutes later tinkle tinkle. Now pee from a puppy you say, no biggie, but this is a german shepherd/lab mix. So it is a big amount (deal) Ugh, not to mention the poop. I'm so tired of the clean up at the house. I mean, "hello I've got three kids" and their weekend destruction is not as big of a mess as Peanut the puppy makes in a few minutes.

I wanted to tell ya about our month of November. It was a busy month for our family. Isaac had his 4th birthday and it was a spiderman themed party. It was fun to figure out what the kids would do and then watching them actually play them. We had 3 activities...blast the villian, pin spidey on the web, and toss the spider. This was in conjunction to the cake and gift time. It was a well run party and his big sisters were lots of help!!!
